NorTEduca: since 2021 transforming STEM education in northern Chile 🌵👩🔬

Over the last four years, the NorTEduca program has been a driving force for change in scientific education in northern Chile. In partnership with SQM Iodine and Fundación Factor de Cambio, Lab4U has brought science learning to the regions of Tarapacá and Antofagasta, benefiting over 6,200 students and 76 teachers from 13 schools. This program has introduced innovative methodologies, interactive experiments, and technological tools, bringing young people closer to science and enabling them to explore new possibilities.
With 75% of jobs projected for 2050 related to STEM fields, preparing future generations is more urgent than ever. This challenge not only guarantees a future with more opportunities but also promotes social equity, as those who graduate in STEM careers have a 7% higher chance of accessing well-paid jobs with higher employment rates. Through NorTEduca, we have connected students with scientific and technological knowledge, preparing them to be part of that future full of opportunities.
The closing event took place at the AIEP Antofagasta campus, and was a true celebration of the impact of NorTEduca. We had the pleasure of having the presence of the Seremi of Science for the Northern Macrozone, Mr. Alonso Fernández, who participated and highlighted the importance of forming public-private partnerships to develop more robust public policies. These partnerships are essential for achieving better education and greater social equity. Alongside SQM Iodine and Fundación Factor de Cambio, we shared the joy of the achievements made in these four years and continue working to transform education and bring science closer to communities.
We are proud to be part of this program and to accompany students on their journey full of possibilities and dreams to be fulfilled, in collaboration with various educational agents united by one mission: to offer a better future to our students.
