“STEM Education with MSD” Transforms STEM Teaching in Rancagua

In 2024, we enthusiastically implemented the first program focused on the healthcare industry, “STEM Education with MSD”, at the Liceo Bicentenario Técnico de Rancagua, strengthening science education with an inclusive and diverse approach. We are deeply happy and grateful to have the partnership with MSD, the global leader in the pharmaceutical industry, which has been key in providing innovative tools to the teachers, not only to improve educational development but also to open new doors to the students’ career expectations, giving them a more promising future.
The program promoted active student participation, inspiring them to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Alongside the teachers, their pedagogical practices were transformed by incorporating a gender perspective and fostering an inclusive environment. This allowed the students to take a leading role in their learning, linked to the Nursing specialty within the Technical Professional area and focused on developing key technological skills to meet the demands of the workforce in this field.
Activities like the “Girls in STEM” Bootcamp, aimed at strengthening the gender perspective in STEM, featuring Amarilis Surroca, Director of Clinical Research at MSD Chile as a STEM role model, and the MSD Branded Lab “Immunity Mechanisms,” which deepened their practical learning on the social relevance of immunity, made a significant impact on the program’s focus and educational content. They highlighted the importance of promoting gender equity in science and technology, as well as connecting scientific learning with practical applications and relevant social challenges, inspiring students to envision a future in STEM careers.
We are excited about everything we achieved this year and even more motivated to continue transforming STEM education in 2025!
