At Lab4U, we are thrilled to share that, alongside with Escondida | BHP, we carried out the third edition of the STEM+Gender Program during 2024. This program has been an incredible opportunity to inspire students to discover science through practical activities and educational experiences, with a special focus on promoting gender equality in STEM fields.
This year, we worked with students from five schools in Antofagasta: we are excited to see how this initiative continues to grow and transform scientific education in the region!
We know the challenge is great: by 2050, according to UN data, 75% of jobs will be linked to STEM fields. That’s why, alongside Escondida | BHP, we work to prepare students today with the tools and skills they need for that future, connecting them with mining and its productive processes.
This program seeks not only to develop local talent but also to build a more equitable and sustainable mining industry. Through adapted content, Lab4U giva students the opportunity to learn, experiment, and experience science in a practical and hands-on way.
Recently, we celebrated the closure of the 2024 edition with an event full of energy and enthusiasm at one of the schools involved in the program, where we gathered with the educational community, teachers, and participating students. We are proud to say that this year we impacted a community of 2,100 students and successfully trained 8 teachers, who have been key players in this process. Over the past three years, we have introduced innovative methodologies, interactive experiments, and technological tools to the classrooms, transforming the way science is taught and learned in Antofagasta.
At Lab4U, we are convinced that science can change lives. Together, we are revolutionizing scientific education and building an inclusive and sustainable labor future for Antofagasta.
Here’s to an amazing 2025! 🚀
