In an effort to unite science and gender equity in the classroom, Lab4U and Escondida | BHP launch the third edition of the STEM+Genero Program. This innovative program aims to inspire young students to explore the world of science through hands-on activities and educational experiences that promote gender equality in STEM disciplines. With the participation of schools in Antofagasta, including Liceo Bicentenario Marta Narea Diaz and Colegio San Agustín, this initiative represents a significant step forward in the region’s education.
The STEM+Genero Program responds to a growing need: by 2050, according to UN data, it is estimated that 75% of jobs will be related to STEM fields. Lab4U and Escondida | BHP are working together to prepare today’s students for that future by providing them with practical skills and connecting them to the mining industry and its innovative processes. Additionally, Escondida | BHP reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, highlighting its transition to a 100% renewable energy matrix, which is integrated into the program’s activities.
For the third consecutive year, Lab4U and Escondida | BHP strengthen their collaboration to develop local talent and prepare students for a more equitable and sustainable mining industry. Through Lab4U’s Branded Labs, young people have the opportunity to learn about the mining industry, directly experience its processes, and understand the environmental and social challenges it faces in the 21st century.
¡Together, we are transforming science education and building an inclusive and sustainable labor future for Antofagasta!
